Barcelona eye Liverpool attacker as Lewandowski’s replacement

In a surprising turn of events, Barcelona is reportedly eyeing Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez as a potential replacement for their star striker Robert Lewandowski, amidst looming changes for both clubs in the upcoming summer.

With Barcelona facing a significant overhaul of their squad due to La Liga’s slashed salary cap of £174 million, high-earning players like Lewandowski, who commands £27 million annually, are expected to depart, despite his enduring prowess at 36 years old, having netted 24 goals and provided nine assists in 45 appearances this season.

Reports from The Sun suggest that Barcelona’s interest in Nunez stems from their near-signing of the forward four years ago when he was with Almeria.

Despite being one of Liverpool’s top earners with wages around £7 million, Nunez remains an attractive and financially feasible option for the Spanish giants.

However, Liverpool may be reluctant to part ways with the Uruguayan, having secured him from Benfica just two years ago in a record-breaking deal worth up to £85 million.
