Zamfara police addressing unlawful murder of Magaji Lawal – CP

Zamfara State police command says it is addressing the case of Magaji Lawali, who was killed by suspected members of the Community Protection Guard, CPG, in Zamfara State.

According to the commissioner of police, members of the CPG alleged that their commander, Col. Rabiu Yandoto, was responsible for the killing.

“The CPG members stated that Col. Yandoto called them, asking if they had arrested Magaji Lawali.

“When they confirmed that he, Col. Yandoto drove to the scene, took the keys to the cell where Magaji was held, and later emerged to announce that he had completed his work.

“After Col. Yandoto left, the CPG members discovered Magaji’s lifeless body,” he said.

The Commissioner emphasized that the former State Commandant of the CPG had been arrested and was being investigated.

He also clarified that the case was not politically motivated but rather a matter of murder, which will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

Recall that lawali was alleged to have been killed by the operatives of the CPG.
