The Osun Amotekun Corps has warned against any unlawful gathering under the guise of Yoruba Nation agitation.
The warning was issued by the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, rtd, on Monday in Osogbo.
Seaking on the preparation of the security outfit to keep the state safe in the wake of fresh Yoruba Nation agitation, Adewinmbi declared that Amotekun would not allow protests by the group in the state.
In his words, “There is nothing like Yoruba Nation agitation here in Osun. Amotekun won’t tolerate any Yoruba Nation protest here. What they are agitating for, we have gotten it indirectly.
“The president, Senator Bola Tinubu is a Yoruba man. They are looking for a Yoruba Nation and Nigeria is under a Yoruba man, so Nigeria is a Yoruba Nation now indirectly.
“They should not create insecurity here. They should not create confusion to divert the president’s attention. Let him face governance.
“God has given him the power and he knows how to use it for the benefit of everyone, not only for Yoruba people alone. Let us give him time.
“They should forget about the Yoruba Nation agitation for now. There is nothing like that. We don’t need it. Only enemies of progress will join that kind of agitation.”
DAILY POST recalls that some individuals suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators dressed in military camouflage and armed with weapons had invaded the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan on Saturday.
20 of the agitators, including a lecturer, were later arrested by the police.
In the wake of the invasion and to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the state, the governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Sunday directed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo to ensure immediate mobilisation of joint security teams.
The team is tasked with securing, “the State Government Secretariat, the Government House, and other strategic government buildings including the headquarters of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.”
The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the command was aware of the Ibadan incident and was prepared to stop any act of lawlessness no matter the status of the perpetrators.
