Yobe resolves over 3,000 disputes between farmers, herders, others in 3 years

The Yobe State Government said it has resolved 3,214 cases of potential conflicts between farmers and herders including other communal disputes within three years.

This was done through the State Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, (Known as Zauren Sulhu).

Chairman of the Committee who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Yobe State Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, disclosed this to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital.

He highlighted that the committee which was inaugurated in 2021, is playing a crucial role in resolving crises and clashes while also working to prevent social vices like drug abuse that negatively impact the youth and children in the state.

The Chairman also said the committee’s responsibilities extend to mediating and mitigating disputes between husbands and wives, parents and children, and other disagreeing parties in communities.

Kyari noted that the committee also conducts sensitization and awareness campaigns to educate the general public about their civic responsibilities and foster peaceful coexistence.
