The Yobe State Government has assured to support the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in the fight against human trafficking, child labour, among other heinous acts capable of jeopardising the freedom, rights and means of lives of the people.
The Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, gave the assurance when the State Commander of NAPTIP Yobe Command, Sale Zakar Suleiman, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Damaturu.
The commissioner stated that the support and collaboration with NAPTIP became necessary with a view to ensuring that humanity is not commoditized.
Bego, who commended NAPTIP for the fight against trafficking in persons, equally expressed happiness that the agency is also fighting child labour, child abuse and even assisting the vulnerable as well as the less privileged in the society.
“The administration of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni remains committed to championing the rights and freedom of people and as such, the ministry will support the agency with jingles among other media activities that will help in tackling human trafficking, child labour, child abuse among other heinous acts in the society especially with the current economic situation where criminals can leverage to lure parents and guidance,” Bego assured.
