Yobe State House of Assembly says it has passed eight out of 10 bills it received, 10 resolutions, as well as petitions within one year.
The Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Chiroma Buba Mashio disclosed this while speaking at a one year anniversary celebration of the 8th Assembly held at the chambers of the House.
Mashio said some of the bills that were successfully passed by the House are that of Hisbah Commission, State Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Agency, State University Amendment Law, 2024 Finance and Appropriation bill, as well as the 2024 local governments’ harmonized finance and appropriation bill.
He assured that the remaining bills that were in various committees would be passed into law before the end of the second session of the Assembly.
According to him, all the petitions presented to the House, some were committed to the appropriate House committees, while others have been given a fair hearing and resolved.
The lawmaker assured that the House would continue to work hand in hand with the executive arm of government to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
He then thanked the staff and the members of the House for their dedication and commitment in the discharge of their legislative functions.
The speaker also commended the State Governor, Mai Mala Buni for strengthening the cordial working relationship with the legislature and prompt attention given to the bills and House resolutions that were passed and transmitted to the executive arm of government for action.
