Jimoh gave this warning on Thursday in Port Harcourt while speaking at a conference organised by the Coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria, COMJAN, with the theme, \u2018Advancing Global Logistics in the Blue Economy\u2019.<\/p>\n
The police commissioner, who was represented by his assistant, AC Remy Obirieze, said that the conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate towards preserving the nation\u2019s marine economy<\/p>\n
According to him, the police in conjunction with sister agencies had recorded several arrests and prosecution of suspected criminals and port infrastructure vandals.<\/p>\n
\u201dWe shall remain committed in our efforts to build a formidable force against vandals and criminal elements at the seaports,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On his part, Area 1 Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service, Mr Mustapha Hashim, commended COMJAN for the conference, describing it as timely.<\/p>\n
Represented by his deputy, DC Ezenwa Ifeyinwa, the comptroller said that the conference would strengthen synergy amongst maritime economy stakeholders.<\/p>\n
He said the Nigerian Customs Service would continue to build bridges between maritime business operators and policy makers to enhance the ease of business.<\/p>\n
In his address, COMJAN President, Mr Ralph John, urged the business community to effectively harness potentials in the blue economy to improve the nation\u2019s Gross Domestic Product, GDP.<\/p>\n
