The governor also ordered the State Commissioner of Police to arrest anyone who flouts the order.<\/p>\n
DAILY POST reports that the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.<\/p>\n
Itua said the governor would review the issues surrounding the collections soon and decide on the way forward.<\/p>\n
According to him, the collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will be arrested.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who flouts the order and collects any kind of revenue on behalf of the State Government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised. He will issue new directives soon. Until then, no one is authorized to collect revenue on behalf of the state government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
DAILY POST also reports that various commercial transport union members, as of about 6:30 am, invaded bus stops along Ekenwa Road, New Benin Market axis, Oba Market, among others, collecting N1000 each from commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n
