Former Manchester United star, Mark Hughes has hit out at forward Marcus Rashford, saying the 26-year-old is one of the worst players in the Premier League off the ball.<\/p>\n
Rashford has struggled to make an impact for the Red Devils this season.<\/p>\n
The England international has scored just two goals in 19 appearances for Erik ten Hag\u2019s side so far this term.<\/p>\n
He came under fire for his subdued display in Man United\u2019s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend and was dropped for their 1-0 win against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think the players go out with the intention of not trying, that doesn\u2019t happen, but I think Rashford has slipped back into the mindset that he had prior to last season \u2013 he doesn\u2019t look happy,\u201d Hughes said on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe obviously had a lot going on outside the game which maybe took something away from him, and perhaps he just needs to focus back solely on what his role is when he\u2019s asked to put on the shirt for Man United.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look at United and think a lot of their problems stem from the wide areas. When the ball goes past them, their response is just not good enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cRashford is an outstanding talent and is one of the best in the league when it comes to taking someone on, but without the ball, he\u2019s probably one of the worst. He\u2019s got to sort that part out.\u201d<\/p>\n
