The Nigerian Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has disclosed that ailing Chief of Defence Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja spoke with the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa.<\/p>\n
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesman of the Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.<\/p>\n
There have been reports that Lagbaja died at an undisclosed hospital abroad about 48 hours ago.<\/p>\n
But the Nigerian Army denied reports that Lagbaja was dead, describing such reports as fake news.<\/p>\n
However, Gusau said: \u201cThe CDS had only spoken with the COAS a few minutes ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe military remains focused on achieving its statutory responsibilities of protecting the nation\u2019s integrity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe relative peace being enjoyed today is a direct result of the President\u2019s support for the military and the dedication of the AFN leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo this end, the AFN and relevant security agencies have been mandated to take necessary action against any individual or group advocating for unconstitutional changes in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
