Governor Ahmadu Fintiri indicated this Monday during a meeting with leaders of the organised labour, as disclosed to newsmen by the labour leadership and confirmed to DAILY POST by Fintiri\u2019s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.<\/p>\n
The state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Emmanuel Fashe told newsmen after the closed-door meeting with Governor Fintiri that state government workers will start receiving their new minimum wage from the end of August while local government workers will start benefiting from it next month.<\/p>\n
Fashe explained that the template to be used is the consequential adjustment table used in 2019 to implement the current N32,000 minimum wage, pending the release of the table for the new salary rate from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.<\/p>\n
Fashe said, \u201cWhatever the worker was getting as the present national minimum wage of N32,000 as it applies to Adamawa State, that same will be applied in terms of percentages in implementation of the new minimum wage.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that Governor Fintiri accepted the N70,000 new minimum wage even before the release of the guide from the Salaries and Wages Commission because he is keen on workers\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n
Confirming the acceptance of the new minimum wage by the governor, the governor\u2019s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou said Fintiri for a fact said during the meeting with labour leaders that his government is ready to pay the new minimum wage.<\/p>\n
