Not less than 12 persons were on Tuesday burnt to death in a road accident that occurred along Malo Ogere, Lagos-Ibadan expressway.<\/p>\n

The lone crash, which happened at about 3:14 pm, involved a white Mazda bus with registration number DDA733XA.<\/p>\n

Spokesman of the state\u2019s Federal Road Safety Corps Florence Okpe in a statement made available to newsmen, said the rescue operation was carried out by a team from FRSC Ogere Unit Command.<\/p>\n

Okpe noted that the crash involved 16 persons which comprised 12 male adults, three female adults, and one female child.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cThe total number of people was 16, which comprised of 12 male adults, three female adult and one female child. Four male passengers were injured in the crash and rescued, while the other 12 persons were burnt to death. The injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere.<\/p>\n

Okpe ascribed the cause to wrongful overtaking by the bus driver, which led to loss of control and the bus hitting the road divider.<\/p>\n

She added that the vehicle fell and was immediately engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n
