Some Christian clerics, among whom were leaders of leading churches in Nigeria, made the call on Monday.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, Rev. John Darku, Africa Executive Director of Christ for All Nations (CfaN) made the call after a meeting with heads of major denominations and the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN leadership.

Darku said the gathering was part of a crusade scheduled for November to pray for the nation’s dwindling economy, spread the message of God and promote social and cultural transformation in Nigeria.

While stressing on the need to address poverty, hunger and insecurity, he explained that Evang. Daniel Kolenda, who took over from the CfaN founder, Reinhard Bonkke will be in attendance with global investors.

“Some of these dignitaries are investors who will identify potential areas for investment, thus boosting the Nigerian economy.

“With participants expected from every part of Nigeria, this crusade will stimulate commercial activities in the capital.

“As millions respond to the call to become Christians, we anticipate a reduction in crime rates and an adoption of Christian values of discipline and hard work, which will positively impact our economy,” he said.

Also speaking, Rev. Dr. Williams Okoye of the All Christian Fellowship, said the country has suffered stagnation since Independence because of a distorted sense of value.

“At Independence of the nation Nigeria, many developed nations believed that within a few years, Nigeria would join the league of developed nations.

“But sixty-plus years later, Nigeria still struggles. The reason is because of our distorted sense of value. Any nations that are developed, msy have developed based on their values,” he said.
