The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja will deliver judgement on the Rivers State governorship election on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The camp of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara had earlier alleged that former Governor Nyesom Wike plans to use the courts to remove him.<\/p>\n
The former governor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is said to be ready to throw his weight behind another candidate from another party in a fresh election.<\/p>\n
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had appealed the judgement of the Governorship Election Tribunal, which upheld the election of Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a petition by its candidate, Patrick Tonye-Cole.<\/p>\n
The three-man panel of the tribunal, in their judgement, dismissed the petition of Tonye-Cole for lacking merits on the grounds that he lacked the power to independently challenge the victory of Governor Fubara without his political party, amongst other grounds.<\/p>\n
