It also urged the senate to follow suit and pass the bill without delay so that Nigeria can join the ranks of countries that have made significant strides in promoting gender equality in governance.<\/p>\n
Recall that a constitutional amendment bill to improve women\u2019s representation in parliament through the introduction of special seats, on Tuesday scaled second reading in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
The Acting National President of NCWS, Geraldine Etuk, reacting to the development through a statement on Sunday, said the passage of the bill was a landmark achievement and a significant step forward for gender equality and representation in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
