Uruguay striker, Darwin Nunez was at the centre of a fight with Colombia fans following his side\u2019s defeat in the Copa America on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Uruguay were defeated 1-0 against Colombia in the Copa America semi-final encounter.<\/p>\n

Jefferson Lerma scored the only goal of the match in the first half.<\/p>\n

However, shortly after Mexican referee, Cesar Ramos blew the final whistle of the game, Nunez and his teammate Ronald Araujo were among the Uruguay players who rushed over to a section of Colombia fans inside the Bank of America Stadium.<\/p>\n

Nunez was seen exchanging punches with Colombia supporters before police stepped in to separate the two groups.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Uruguay captain Jose Gimenez has since claimed that his teammates engaged in the confrontation because their families, who were sitting near the Colombia supporters, were in danger during the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease, I ask you to be careful. Families are in the stands. Our families are in danger. This is a disaster,\u201d Gimenez told Directv.<\/p>\n
