Tinubu will meet with labour leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to further discuss the new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers.<\/p>\n
The meeting, said to be at the instance of the President, will have the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, in attendance, Channels Television reports.<\/p>\n
The Nigerian Government and organized labour have been at loggerheads over the implementation of a new minimum wage for workers.<\/p>\n
While labour is demanding N250,00, the Nigerian Government had proposed N60,000 as the new national minimum wage.<\/p>\n
The proposed meeting will come about a month after the President promised to send an Executive Bill to the National Assembly on the minimum wage.<\/p>\n
Tinubu made the promise during his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024.<\/p>\n
