The command’s spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, on Tuesday, made this known in a statement issued to journalists.

He said the latest such crime was the arrest of one Mallam Auwalu Haruna for allegedly abducting and impregnating a 20-year-old girl.

According to him, the medical examination revealed that the victim was two months pregnant and that she confessed to being coerced to drink a medicinal concoction, which rendered her unconscious and vulnerable to the perpetrator’s actions.

He added that the State CID has launched an investigation into the incident.

Commissioner of Police Garba Ahmed, who declared zero tolerance against GBV, called on stakeholders to join forces in combating GBV, which has far-reaching consequences for the well-being and development of the girl child and society at large.

He equally urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to be vigilant about the relationships their wards have with others, as perpetrators are often close relatives, neighbours, or acquaintances.

He assured that perpetrators would be arraigned in court.
