Crisis hit the Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday, over the constitution of the campaign council ahead of the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election in the state.<\/p>\n

The party disagreed with its governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, for not carrying the party along in the appointment of those that will serve in the campaign council.<\/p>\n

The gubernatorial candidate of the party revealed through his spokesperson, Samuel Ogunmusi, that the former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Eddy Olafeso, will serve as the Chairman of Ajayi Campaign Council.<\/p>\n

Ogunmusi added that the former chairman of the party in the state, Clement Faboyede, has been appointed as the Director General of the Campaign Council, while John Ola-Mafo will serve as Director General (Special Duties), whild Deji Aseniserare will serve as Secretary.<\/p>\n

While kicking against the development, the publicity secretary of the party, Kennedy Peretei, described the action of Ajayi as embarrassing, which he stressed contradicted the constitution of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe announcement by one Samuel Ogunmusi appointing persons to coordinate the campaigns of H.E. Agboola Ajayi for the November election is not only embarrassing but a violation of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).<\/p>\n

\u201cArticles 46(1) and 40(1)(a)(b) and (c) do not permit such announcements coming from individuals not known to the party. To such an extent, all the supposed announcements are null, void, and of no effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur party is an organised party, guided by the rule of law. At the appropriate time, appointments for the Local Campaign Council will be made public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
