Ibukun, who stated this in Abuja, said Nigerians should be wary of what enters their mouth be it water or food.

DAILY POST reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, recently revealed that no fewer than 63 deaths and 2102 suspected cases have been registered in the ongoing cholera epidemic across the country.

Dr Jide Idris, the Director General of the centre, said during a news conference on the cholera situation on Tuesday in Abuja, “that as at June 30, Nigeria recorded 2,102 suspected cholera cases and 63 deaths across 33 states and 122 local government areas, with a case fatality rate of 3.0 percent.”

On her part, Mrs Ibukun stated that “Apart from choosing what you eat, the way you prepare the food is also very important. We’re specific about cleanliness and we want to say that to Nigerians.

“The cholera outbreak and all kinds of diseases are mainly because we have contaminated foods. We advise people to wash their hands when they’ve just used the bathroom.

“When you’re coughing, sneezing, make sure that you cover up so that you don’t spread the virus among other people.

“And if you ever see that you’re feeling somehow, you have to take immediate action so that you don’t allow it to prolong and cause some more troubles.”
