The Coalition for Good Governance in Rivers State has declared that a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, is not competent to speak on the political crisis in Rivers State.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued Thursday and jointly signed by its President, Joe Samson, and Secretary, Aaron Igbijoh, the coalition noted that Ugochinyere does not represent Rivers State or any part of it, but rather the people of Ideato North\/South in Imo State.<\/p>\n

They stressed that his call for the government of Rivers State to invoke sections of the criminal code and institute treason charges against the 23 local government chairmen, their alleged sponsors, and co-conspirators betrays his ignorance and conveniently disregards the fact that the State Assembly has extended their tenure for another six months. The matter is currently before the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

The coalition pointed out that this interference in another state\u2019s affairs makes him an interloper meddling in matters outside his competence and outside his constituency.<\/p>\n

They called on Ugochinyere to cease his frequent use of disrespectful language against Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n

The statement read: \u201cRivers State has very competent, experienced, and well-read representatives in the National Assembly who can effectively speak for the state if and when the need arises.\u201d<\/p>\n

The coalition noted that they expected Ugochinyere to conduct himself in a manner that befits the title \u201cHonourable,\u201d but he continued to disgrace the green chamber with utterances and actions unsuitable to such a high office.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is evident to us that the current rift in Rivers State has become a fertile ground for Ugochinyere once again to further his pecuniary appetite, but we assure him that he will fail at the end of the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIkenga Imo Ugochinyere should keep his focus on his Imo State, where people are still compelled to stay at home on Mondays, children cannot go to school, and businesses cannot open.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is not a Rivers man and is totally irrelevant to the affairs of Rivers State. He once raised alarms that a man was responsible for killing his uncle and burning his cars. He is already facing enough troubles in his home and personal life and has not demonstrated any ability to solve them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hereby warn Ugochinyere to desist from his childish and mercenary comments on matters concerning Rivers State. We will not hesitate henceforth to take any measures we deem necessary against him if he takes this long-overdue warning lightly. The Niger Delta is not Imo.\u201d<\/p>\n
