The SUG leaders, in a video seen by our correspondent, blocked the entrance of the CBT center.

An ND 2 Mass Communication student told our correspondent that the examination was disrupted by the student union.

*We are supposed to start our exams today, we are to write the EED exams but when we got to the CBT center the students union did not allow us to enter. They were blocking the door and held the shirts of departmental heads saying we cannot write our exams today.”

Speaking to DAILY POST, the SUG President, Hezekiah Adelola disclosed that the demonstration was held due to the “managements incompetence”.

Adelola lamented that various issues ranging from non-issuance of matriculation numbers to returning HND students, non-release of results of previous exams, among others were yet to be addressed by the school.

He said, “The reason is that many of our student still have a lot of things to do which is as a result of the incompetence of the management. Some of our students that resumed back for HND are expected to make use of the former matriculation numbers used in ND but the school management gave them a new one and they need to change it to the old one before they can write the exams.

“Till now they are yet to change it they did not even attend to them.

“We also have some departments that are yet to see their results on their portal and those students don’t want to take the risk to start their exams because the don’t know their grade; they don’t know if they even have carryover so they will be able to know how to sit up for this current exams and make sure that they also register their carryover courses.”

According to Adelola, several students who had paid their tuition fees had not yet printed their receipts since the school had switched to a new portal.

“And another reason is that MAPOLY migrated from the old portal to a new one and for a lot of persons who had paid their school fees earlier it isn’t reflecting in the new portal so they are unable to print out their school fees receipt.”

The SUG President stated that the students had decided to give the management the remaining three days of this week to fix necessary things, and then the students would be allowed to return next week to write their examinations.

Responding on the alleged fight between the union leaders and departmental heads, he said, “It is just a mere argument they were trying to sort some things, the management led by the Academic Board have listened to our plight and promised to get across to us. So for now no exams.”

However when contacted by our correspondent, the school’s public relations officer, Yemi Ajibola, denied that the students had interfered with the exam, saying the management already knew the exams couldn’t hold.

“It is a lie who told you that? That’s a lie, it was not held because we discovered that many of the students have not completed their registration so, how can we go ahead with examination for student that have not completed their registration?

“They did not disrupt the exam, it is something that can be understood by everybody. It is a glaring thing, we all saw that the exam cannot hold.”
