(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/nexusnew/nigerdeltanews.ng/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114Factional secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu lsiguzoro has called on fellow Igbo brethren to direct their grievances towards the Southeast governors and leaders rather than President Bola Tinubu regarding the deteriorating security situation in the region.

Ohanaeze said the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, and the refusal of his release from the Department of State Services, DSS, custody was the actual cause of insecurity in the zone.

A statement signed by lsiguzoro, on Sunday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, said it has come to light that South-East Governors and certain Igbo leaders have not provided the essential assurances required to explore political resolutions for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The statement noted the crucial need for unity and cooperation among South-East Governors and esteemed Igbo personalities such as Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Ebutu Ukiwe, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, and others, in providing the Federal Government with assurances regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s future conduct post-release.

He said it appears that some South-East Governors and Igbo elites have chosen to exploit Nnamdi Kanu’s detention for personal gain, political bargaining, and the pursuit of political relevance.

“It is disheartening to note that certain Southeast Governors and Igbo leaders seem content to visit Nnamdi Kanu in the DSS facility, diminishing him to the status of a “monkey in the Zoo.” They seem more inclined to visit and take photographs with Kanu in detention rather than actively seeking political solutions for his release.

“It is paramount for Ndigbo to hold Southeast Governors, Igbo Elders, National Assembly members, and Traditional Rulers accountable for the extended detention of Nnamdi Kanu, and refrain from laying blame on the Federal Government or President BolaTinubu.

“The Federal Government awaits a united stance and commitments from the Igbo community to facilitate a potential release of Nnamdi Kanu.
