The Anglican Bishop of Jos until he retired last year, said at an event in Adamawa State on Saturday, that selfish people in positions of power need prayers to change and be true leaders.

The cleric made his comment as the Guest Speaker during a public presentation of the Bwatiye New Testament Bible in Numan, accusing some church leaders also of materialism.

“I don’t know how our politicians will buy a car at N150 million and say N60,000 a month is too much for a worker,” he said, adding, “I pray that God will speak to our leaders.”

Expressing the hope that the Bwatiye New Testament Bible will spur deeper unity among the Bwatiye people, he urged Christians to do more projects such as Bible translation in local languages and shun avarice.

DAILY POST reports that the Bwatiye are a people found in Numan, Demsa, Girei, Fufore and Lamurde local government areas of Adamawa State.

During the event, the organisers said the translated work is a means to reach more Bwatiye people with Christian literature that appeals more personally to them.

Giving a brief history of how the bible was actualized, one of the project managers, Bishop Bulus Taiya, said the project began in 2011 and surmounted difficult challenges to survive.
