The Acting Executive Vice Chairman of Communication, Dr Adamu Abdullahi gave the warning on Thursday at a one day sensitisation campaign in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The FCCPC boss expressed concerns over the attitude of some traders, retailers and farmers who, according to him, cut corners in the quest to make quick money.<\/p>\n
He noted that such practices are capable of jeopardizing the health of consumers.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we gather to address some of the pressing issues in our food industry-forceful ripening of fruits, adulterated palm oil, contaminated meat, and grains-because these are issues that affect not only our health and well-being but also the integrity of our food supply chain.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we are all aware, food safety is one of your rights as a consumer and it is paramount to our collective health,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Adamu stressed that the increasing incidences of harmful practices in food production and processing are disturbing.<\/p>\n
He noted that the practices do not only pose significant health risks but also undermine consumer trust in the food industry<\/p>\n
