Popular Nigerian singer Korede Bello has recalled how his environment influenced him into smoking cannabis when he was younger.<\/p>\n
The \u2018God win\u2019 hitmaker said he eventually gave up the habit after discovering that it wasn\u2019t his \u201cthing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Featuring on a recent episode of the \u2018Say My Piece\u2019 podcast hosted by actress Omotunde Adebowale David, aka Lolo1, Bello disclosed that as a child, he used to witness his father smoking.<\/p>\n
\u201cI tried weed before but it\u2019s not my thing. Very early on in my life, I mean not in my life like when I was a child, but it was just something that people did around me also and this is something about myself I have a very addictive personality so whatever I find pleasurable it can turn into an addiction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The singer said despite his father being a smoker and sending him on errands to buy cigarettes, he warned him against smoking.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad used to smoke a lot of cigarettes and as a child, he used to send me to get him cigarettes. I noticed something then, he used to cough a lot so I\u2019d ask him \u2018Daddy why are you coughing?\u2019 and he\u2019d tell me \u2018It\u2019s because of the cigarette. So if you don\u2019t wanna cough like me, don\u2019t smoke\u2019,\u201d Bello recalled.<\/p>\n
He explained that because of his father\u2019s advice and his experience, he developed a mindset that smoking is \u201cunhealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n
