The United States of America is set to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court officials.<\/p>\n
The US, according to the Guardian UK, is willing to work with Congress to potentially impose sanctions against the world\u2019s top court\u2019s officials.<\/p>\n
This is following the prosecutor\u2019s request for arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over the Gaza war,<\/p>\n
Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State, made this disclosure on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
At a Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, Blinken was told by Republican Lindsey Graham that he wanted to see renewed US sanctions on the court.<\/p>\n
Recall that ICC prosecutor, Karim Khan had on Monday announced a move by ICC to arrest both the Israeli and Hamas leaders.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to take actions, not just words,\u201d Graham said to Blinken.<\/p>\n
\u201cWill you support [a] bipartisan effort to sanction the ICC, not only for the outrage against Israel but to protect, in the future, our own interest?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI welcome working with you on that,\u201d Blinken said.<\/p>\n
Khan had said in his announcement that he had reasonable grounds to believe that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel\u2019s defense chief and three Hamas leaders \u201cbear criminal responsibility\u201d for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity<\/p>\n
