The suspects, identified as Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), all residents of Aso B Mararaba, Karu LGA, allegedly conspired to kidnap one Ibrahim Idris, an uncle to one of the suspects.<\/p>\n
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects contacted Idris and threatened to kidnap him if he did not pay N2 million.<\/p>\n
Nansel stated that Idris complied and dropped the money at a location specified by the suspects for fear of being kidnapped.<\/p>\n
He also said that the suspects picked up the money and divided it among themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspects allegedly conspired among themselves and placed a call across to one Ibrahim Idris of the same address, an uncle to one of the suspects.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey threatened to kidnap him if he didn\u2019t pay a ransom of Two Million Naira.<\/p>\n
\u201cScared of being kidnapped, the victim dropped the total sum requested by the suspects at their preferred location; after which they picked it up and shared it among themselves.\u201d Nansel stated in the press release with Ref. number AZ:5250\/NAS\/PRD\/VOL.2\/68<\/p>\n
The PPRO stated that the arrested suspects have confessed to the crime, and efforts are underway to apprehend another member of the syndicate who narrowly escaped arrest.<\/p>\n
