Long infamously described as one of few states of its age and sporting status without a stadium, the fresh funding approval is expected to change the story.<\/p>\n
The Adamawa State Executive Council, SEC, which gave the approval at an emergency meeting on Monday, specified that the fund is for completion of the Jimeta Permanent Stadium, a stadium started decades ago by a previous government but ignored by succeeding administrations.<\/p>\n
Briefing journalists shortly after the SEC meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs Neido Kufoltu, said the commitment of the administration to unify youths and reduce restiveness prompted the approved of the N4.7 billion for the completion of the ultramodern stadium.<\/p>\n
She also announced increase in scope of work on the ongoing superhighway construction from FGGC Yola junction in Yola South LGA to AA Lawan junction in Yola North, for which N18.8 billion naira was approved as contract variation.<\/p>\n
She noted that the overall new contract sum for the superhighway now stands at N40.6 billion.<\/p>\n
