Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has said Arsenal lost to Aston Villa last Sunday because they were \u201cexcited\u201d.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Alexander-Arnold came on as a substitute, but could not stop his team from losing 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Hours later, the Gunners missed the chance to go top, as they were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa at the Emirates.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf those fixtures were reversed and we played second and Arsenal played first maybe it would\u2019ve been a different mentality. It all comes down to mentality.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think our result played a part in Arsenal\u2019s result. They have potentially got too excited and thought this is our chance, this is what we need to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe they overthought things whereas if us and City both won it made them think, \u2018we need to just win\u2019 rather than it being a chance to breakaway from the pack. None of us have been in a three-horse race, so it\u2019s difficult,\u201d Alexander-Arnold said.<\/p>\n
