A High Court in Lokoja on Wednesday granted a two-hour judgement restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from arresting, detaining and prosecuting former governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.<\/p>\n

Justice I.A. Jamil held that infringing on the rights of the former governor is null and void except as authorised by the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy this order, the EFCC is hereby restrained from arresting, detaining and prosecuting the applicant. This is a definite order following the earlier interim injunction given.\u201d<\/p>\n

The order followed Bello\u2019s case of a breach of his fundamental human rights by the anti-graft agency before the state high court.<\/p>\n

The former governor had prayed for an order restraining EFCC from unjustly arresting, detaining, and prosecuting him.<\/p>\n

The court ruled that the substantive issues of fundamental human rights sought by the applicant succeeded.<\/p>\n
