The Enugu State Police Command has busted a tricycle-stealing syndicate operating in states in the South East.<\/p>\n
A statement by the command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Monday, said that they had arrested two suspected members of the syndicate.<\/p>\n
Ndukwe said that the feat was achieved by the command\u2019s detectives, serving in Central Police Station Enugu, with support from Neighbourhood Watch Group members.<\/p>\n
\u201cMichael Okorie, 18, and Christian Okorie, 19, both male and of Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, were on April 5, 2024, at about 11 am, arrested by<\/p>\n
detectives.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were arrested at Mbanugo Street within the Coal Camp axis of Enugu metropolis, and a stolen yellow-coloured TVC tricycle recovered from them.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon interrogation, the suspects confessed to having been committing the criminal act of stealing in Ebonyi and Enugu states.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey further confessed to having stolen the recovered tricycle from where it was parked on April 4, 2024, during a wake, and were in the process of selling it before they were apprehended,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the suspects will be arraigned and prosecuted once investigations are concluded.<\/p>\n
