United States, US, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has disclosed that Ukraine will join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO.<\/p>\n
Blinken disclosed this to journalists on Thursday during a summit to mark NATO\u2019s 75th anniversary.<\/p>\n
\u201cUkraine will become a member of NATO. Our purpose at the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership,\u201d said Blinken.<\/p>\n
The US Secretary of State assured that the support for Ukraine remains \u201crock solid\u201d among member states.<\/p>\n
European leaders have been anxious about US support for Ukraine as a $60 billion aid package is held up in Congress by Republicans.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba attended the summit to press for more air defence systems, which he said they agreed to.<\/p>\n
\u201cAllies will undertake an exercise of allocating or finding this \u2013 identifying these additional air defence systems in order to bring them to Ukraine, to provide them to Ukraine and help defend our skies,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, NATO ministers agreed to start planning to play a greater role in coordinating military aid to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Under a proposal by Stoltenberg, NATO would take over work done by a US-led coalition known as the Ramstein group to guard against any cut in support if Donald Trump is re-elected president in November.<\/p>\n
Diplomats said that Stoltenberg also proposed a fund of \u20ac100 billion to support Ukraine\u2019s military over five years.<\/p>\n
