The Osun State Executive Council has approved the appointment of Prince Muritala Oyelakin from the Oyekun ruling house as the new Aree of Iree.<\/p>\n
The new monarch would preside over the kingdom which is located in Iree, Boripe North local council development area of the state.<\/p>\n
The announcement of the approval was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Wednesday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, \u201cThe approval came to the fore today, 6th day of March, 2024, at the end of the Osun State Executive Council meeting, held at the Governor\u2019s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will be recalled that, the stool of the Aare of Iree became vacant sequel to the Osun State Government\u2019s White Paper Report that nullified all the previous actions of the appointed warrant Kingmakers and confirmed the statutory rights of the Iree kingmakers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe warrant chiefs had subsequently withdrawn their suit, leading to the restarting of the selection process by the kingmakers and forwarding of the king-nominee by the local authority to the state government.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis Excellency, Governor Adeleke and members of the Osun State Executive Council, accordingly, have congratulated the new Oba-elect, Prince Muritala Oyelakin on his appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Council prays that his reign will usher in peace, growth and development for the Iree community, its environs and Osun State at large,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
