Wild jubilation has erupted in Kano following the Supreme Court\u2019s affirmation of Abba Kabir Yusuf as the duly elected Governor of the state.<\/p>\n

A five-member panel of justices of the Supreme Court, on Friday, unanimously held that the lower court misunderstood the import of the purported deduction of 165,616 ballot papers in favour of Governor Yusuf.<\/p>\n

The judgment read by Justice Inyang Okoro also held that the issue of Governor Yusuf\u2019s membership was a pre-election matter.<\/p>\n

As soon as the Apex court\u2019s verdict was announced, thousands of supporters of Governor Abba\u2019s party, the NNPP, trooped to major streets of the state capital in cars and motorcycles, singing the party\u2019s slogans in celebration of the judgement.<\/p>\n

Others were seen supplicating to Allah(SWT) in mosques and open places thanking Him for restoring their mandate.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in strategic locations in the ancient city to avert any possible breach of peace.<\/p>\n
