Wike vs Fubara: Sympathise with Rivers gov – Dele Momodu to Nigerians

Veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, on Tuesday said Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State should be sympathized with amid the crisis in the state.

Momodu said the face-off between Wike and Fubara is bizarre.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain made the remark while commenting on a video of Wike rebuking his former boss, ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Posting on X, Momodu said those in power should be aware of the repercussion of tyranny.

He wrote: “A lot of people cannot understand or appreciate why we caution our friends not to abuse power but the reason is simple, the repercussion of tyranny is usually catastrophic and it may even endanger our hard earned Democracy.

“LIFE should never be about POWER only. Here was governor Nyesom Wike rebuking his former boss, governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“This is why we find his fight against Governor Sim Fubara very bizarre. I have never had a personal relationship with FUBARA. Never. But he deserves our sympathy.”

Wike and Fubara have been at loggerheads since the latter assumed office as governor.

Despite President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, the crisis between the duo had continued.

However, Fubara explained that his crisis with Wike was borne out of political control.

Fubara had said: “We all know the issue. It is very simple. It has to do with the issue of power and control. You have all seen it in this case. If election had been held in Rivers and council chairmen had been inaugurated in a normal situation do we even need anybody to go and obstruct them from entering the Secretariat?”
