In its efforts to ensure that its officers and men are always prepared for any eventuality, the Nigerian Army on Tuesday in Jos commenced the Inter-Division Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Competition for its formations across the country.
The exercise, being hosted by the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, was flagged off by Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The Nigerian Army said the exercise is organised to further strengthen the security architecture of the country.
General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, who represented Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, said the exercise is in line with the vision of the army chief.
“The vision for this competition is to maintain an enduring dedication and resilience aimed at building on the tremendous achievements the Army has achieved over the years.
“I want to ensure that troops are well grounded in professionalism, engineering, sound administration, and cooperation. This can only make sense when driven by innovative training,” he said.
Divisions participating in the exercise include troops of Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja, 1 Division (Kaduna), 2 Division (Ibadan), 3 Division (Jos), 81 Division (Lagos), 82 Division (Enugu), and 6 Division (Port Harcourt).
