Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal has given reasons for his frequent travels outside the state, saying he has to source financial and material help to pull the state out of its security and socioeconomic setbacks.
The Governor disclosed this while fielding questions from Farin Wata TV station reporters in Gusau, the state capital.
Governor Lawal explained that his trips have assisted foreign and local partners who had withdrawn their aid to the state due to the high level of corruption by public officials to regain confidence in the state.
He said with the restored confidence in the state government, renovations and development of significant educational and health infrastructure across the state will soon resume.
Lawal informed that medical equipment and medicaments have been donated to the state government by foreign agencies to resuscitate the collapsed healthcare sector.
Speaking on the security challenges ravaging the entire state, Governor Lawal pointed out that the Community Protection Guards recruited by the government were being trained by security agencies to effectively carry out their assignment.
He also explained that they would be adequately armed and provided with the necessary logistics to facilitate their operation.
Governor Lawal lamented the monumental level of public corruption in the state and pledged to appropriately minimise corruption by exposing the perpetrators. he
The Governor assured that appropriate measures will be taken to recover embezzled public funds and judiciously punish offenders and warned public officials to desist from all forms of corrupt practices or be removed from office.
