‘We’re united’ – Presidency responds alleged plans to impeach Akpabio as senate president

The presidency has dismissed reports of a planned move to impeach the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

President Bola Tinubu’s Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Basheer Lado, said such reports should be disregarded because there is a harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislature.

In a statement he issued, Lado assured that Tinubu is committed to working with the legislative arm of government.

He noted that the senate would continue to function freely and without interference, adding that security presence at the National Assembly complex is for the routine safety and protection of legislators and staff.

“I wish to categorically state that these reports are baseless and should be disregarded as there is no discord within the rank and file of the senators.
