‘We’ll work with local security outfits to fight crime in Abia’ – Police

Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has advised his men to synergise with community security outfits and other stakeholders in information gathering to sustain the fight against criminal elements in the state.

This, he said, would help in the war against criminality in parts of Abia State.

The Commissioner of Police gave the advice at Igbere, Bende LGA of the state while receiving four patrol vehicles from Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the Abia State Police Command and the Igbere vigilante group.

Onwuemelie stated that with the availability of the patrol vans, the fight against criminals in that part of the state has received a big boost.

He challenged policemen serving in Ohafia, Isiukwuato and Igbere area commands and divisions, respectively, to launch onslaughts against bandits, saying that no excuses for their failure to discharge their duties would be tolerated henceforth.

He thanked Senator Kalu for supporting the police in tackling insecurity, promising that the patrol vans would be put to adequate use.

Earlier in his speech, Kalu charged Nigerians to shun violence and promote patriotism.

He recalled how hoodlums destroyed some electricity projects in some communities after he installed them.

Kalu advised the Nigerian youths to develop their farming potential instead of engaging in violence.

Ohafia and Isiukwuato area commands, the Igbere Police Division and the Igbere Vigilante Group took delivery of the security vehicles.
