We will banish unemployment – Adeleke promises Osun youths

The Osun State government has expressed readiness to tackle the rate of unemployment among youths in the state.

This was made known by Governor Ademola Adeleke during the Career Fair Day organised for students, job seekers and other stakeholders in collaboration with Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.

The Governor who was represented by the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina said the job fair is a starting point to exploit opportunities across federal establishments domiciled in the state as it is a potent platform for job seekers.

In his words, “Part of the employment agenda is to deepen the state economy by encouraging agro-industrial activities among the young and the old and diversifying the economic base of the state.”

“Additionally, we are pursuing the localisation agenda in our project implementation, this policy is building the capacity of local contractors and local businesses to employ more indigenes in the construction industry.”

The governor stated that his administration is reviving vocational education centres in the state as the focus is to expose Osun youths to technical skills to enable them to offer services for self-employment.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Affairs, Biyi Odunlade advised the participants to take advantage of the opportunity to interact directly with the agencies present and find out the career opportunities available both within Osun and nationally.

He also encouraged agencies to open new positive engagement within the ministry to foster and institutionalise a concrete collaborative relationship that would endure for years to come.
