Deputy governor of Cross River State, Mr Peter Odey has clarified that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, does not discriminate between old and new members of the party.
DAILY POST recalls that when former Gov Ben Ayade defected on May 20, 2021 from PDP to APC, the old members of the party were aggrieved that only those that defected with him were favored with government appointments.
But the deputy governor, who spoke in Igoli Ogoja on Saturday when he received Mike Usibe, one time Chairman of Yala Local Government Council and Commissioner for New Cities Development under the PDP, assured them of equal opportunities.
Odey said the APC did not discriminate between old and new members citing himself as an example having been nominated to contest election as Deputy Governor only nine months after joining the party.
He assured the defectors that Otu’s government will receive them and that their contributions will be respected in the party.
He said Usibe was one whose political influence extended beyond Yala to Ogoj LGA.
Speaking at the event, the chapter Chairmen of Yala, Mr. Solomon Ogar and Ogoja, Hon. Paul Adinye stated that Ubise’s defection to the party was the removal of the strongest opposition in the zone.
