US Navy aircraft crashes in Washington, rescue operation underway

A United States Navy aircraft with two crew members on board has crashed near Mount Rainier in Washington state, triggering an ongoing search and rescue mission.

The crash occurred on Tuesday evening during what the Navy described as a routine training flight.

The aircraft involved in the incident is an EA-18G Growler, an electronic attack jet from the F/A-18 family of aircraft.

As of 7 p.m. on October 15, the Navy reported that the status of the two crew members remained unknown.

Rescue efforts are being led by a Navy MH-60S helicopter, which was dispatched from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, located north of Seattle.

The search operation continues, and authorities have yet to provide additional details regarding the cause of the crash or the fate of the crew.
