UCL: Why Man Utd lost 4-3 to FC Copenhagen – Ten Hag

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, criticized the “very harsh” red card that was shown to Marcus Rashford during their 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Ten Hag also criticised the award of two of the hosts’ goals.

Rasmus Hojlund scored twice within 30 minutes to give the Red Devils the lead.

However, the game changed after Rashford was shown a straight card for a foul on Elias Jelert.

That came in the 42nd minute, and it was 2-2 at the break after Mohamed Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves scored for the hosts.

Bruno Fernandes put United back in front from the penalty spot, only for goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghi to give Copenhagen all three points.

“The red card changed everything. It’s become a different game, but then you concede two goals that never should count,” Ten Hag told TNT Sports.

“It was a very harsh decision; I’m sure he was going for the ball.

“I thought already the review was over and then he went to the screen. So also, I think the referee wasn’t sure.”
