UCL: Arsenal out of Club World Cup after defeat to Bayern Munich

Arsenal will not play in the next Club World Cup after they were eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, to exit the competition on a 3-2 aggregate.

This means that RB Salzburg will take the one spot left in the expanded Club World Cup.

The slot had been reserved for this year’s Champions League winners. But since all four teams in the semi-finals have already qualified for the Club World Cup, it has been reallocated.

It goes to the best-performing club in the competition over the past four years who are not already in the competition. And that is Salzburg.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid will be there as winners of the Champions League in the qualifying period, which is 2020/2021 through to 2023/2024.

Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain, Internazionale, FC Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Atletico take the coefficient places.

Twenty-three of the 32 teams are already known with the field to be completed by the end of the year.
