U-17 WWC: New Zealand coach reflects on defeat to Flamingos

New Zealand coach, Alana Gunn has reacted to his team’s loss to the Flamingos of Nigeria.

The Young Football Ferns were thrashed 4-1 by the Flamingos in their opening fixture at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Wednesday night.

The Oceania champions conceded three goals in the first 28 minutes of the encounter.

Gunn’s side let in another goal 10 minutes after the break.

Hannah Saxon however reduced the deficit for New Zealand on the hour mark.

“A goal is massive for us. It’s an awesome achievement from the team and especially for Hannah, she’ll remember that type of moment forever,” Gunn was quoted by FIFA.com after the game.
