Nigeria’s Flamingos booked a spot in the quarter-finals at the ongoing 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World following a comprehensive 4-0 victory over debutants Ecuador.
Shakirat Moshood bagged a brace with Harmony Chidi and Peace Effiong also on target for the West Africans.
Moshood converted from the penalty spot two minutes before the half hour mark after captain Taiwo Afolabi was fouled inside the box.
The Flamingos had to wait until nine minutes into the second half before doubling their lead.
Chidi fired home from inside the box following a brilliant Effiong’s assist.
Effiong took advantage of a defensive blunder by the Ecuadorians to score the third goal on 66 minutes.
Moshood extended the lead for the Flamingos with her second of the match and third of the tournament deep into stoppage time.
Nigeria maintained top spot on the Group A with table with six points from two games.
Bankole Olowookere’s side will face hosts Dominican Republic in their last group game on Tuesday.
