Two brothers nabbed for allegedly killing man accused of witchcraft

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly killing another man identified as Umaru.

The two brothers, Adamu Bamu, 35 years old, and Manu Bamu, 32 years old; both of Kila village in Toungo Local Government Area, have confessed to killing Umaru, whom they accused of witchcraft.

The suspects have told the police that they took Umaru’s life because he, deploying witchcraft power, killed two children of Adamu, the older of the two brothers.

This is according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said Adamu had told the police that the deceased was not born a witch but he bought it when he lost all his cattle.

According to Nguroje, Adamu said the deceased had earlier informed him and his brother of his intention to buy witchcraft in order to kill his father and inherit his cattle.

Nguroje said that, according to the thread of the story recounted by Adamau, when Umaru failed to kill his own father as he planned, he started using his newly acquired witchcraft on Adamu’s children.

Umaru thereby murdered Adamu’s daughter, known as Hurera and later Mumuni.

Nguroje said Adamu owned up to retaliating the murder of his children by killing Umaru.
