Troost-Ekong undergoes successful knee surgery in Finland

Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong had a successful surgery in Finland on Tuesday night.

Troost-Ekong sustained a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s second game against hosts, Cote d’Ivoire at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite the injury, the centre-back played six out of Super Eagles’ seven games in Cote d’Ivoire.

The defender played a significant role in Nigeria’s second-place finish at the competition, netting thrice.

Troost-Ekong, who was named Player of the Tournament, is currently the highest scoring defender in the history of the AFCON.

He is expected to return to action towards the end of the season.
