Troops kill two bandits, recover arms in Kaduna

The troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have neutralised two bandits during a clearance operation in the general area of Juji and Telele-Kaso in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Lt Col Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, made this known in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the bandits opened fire upon sighting the approaching troops but were overpowered by the troops’ superior and overwhelming firepower.

In the process, the troops neutralised two bandits while others fled in disarray.

The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, a quantity of five 7.62mm (special) ammunition, two locally made hand grenades, four handsets, two motorcycles, spanners, screwdrivers, and two bags.

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General Valentine Okoro, has implored the general public to continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies with credible information to enhance the fight against terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities in the division’s area of responsibility.
